Pride celebrations in the US and globally are rapidly being commodified and bought out by big corporations to gain access to pink dollars. Uniquely, the advancement of gay rights is often equated to modernity and progress, while the lack of legal protections is deemed backwards. So, what does Gay Pride mean to you? How does one become a gay consumer in a global market? Can your pride be bought? Speaker: Khoi Nguyen (they/he) is researcher looking the overlapping relationship between Vietnamese refugees and queerness. They currently resides in Sài Gòn and tries to eat as much street food as possible. Khoi received the Fulbright Hays to examine the internal Vietnamese migration to better understand contemporary global Vietnamese migration.
