Saturday, October 3rd, we celebrate 17 YEARS of soul, funk, and one of the longest-running monthly parties in the Burgh. Like we do every month, we'll meet in the basement and throw it back, turning it up with a special anniversary gathering under the disco ball.
Often imitated, never duplicated, TITLE TOWN brings you 6 (!) hours of high-octane soul anthems, deep funk burners, Motown magic, Northern soul, disco gems, and more. No gimmicks, all vinyl, just the music that moves you.
We don't do nostalgia. We don't do retro. From the beginning, this music and people have been the point…classic and deeply obscure soul, funk, R&B, disco, and more. Top 40 hits mixed with regional, self-released gems that never got a national push. Every month, we put it all front and center, showing respect to the artists, songwriters, producers, session musicians, and everyone behind these records.
Bringing freshness to Pittsburgh since 2009, TITLE TOWN stays true to its original sound. Residents J.Malls & Gordy G. take you on a journey across the musical landscape, resurrecting deep soul, funk, Motown, and disco cuts from the early 1960s through the early 1980s. Expect rarities from The Cashmeres, Family of Eve, and Timeless Legend mixed with stone-cold classics from Marvin Gaye, Sly & the Family Stone, Etta James, The Delfonics, and more.
