Think sentencing is easy? Judge for yourself.
About this Event

“The explanation (the presenter) gave of the process was very clear and most interesting. Those members who felt our justice system was too lenient rethought their attitudes as we were shown how many factors should be considered.” – Previous participant

Enter our courtroom. Decide the sentence. Judge for yourself.

Step into the shoes of a District Court judge with the Queensland Sentencing Council’s free, interactive workshop based on a real-life case.

Judge for Yourself shows participants there is more to a sentence than just the headlines.

Council deputy chair and Bell Criminal Lawyers director Kristy Bell will provide valuable insight into the criminal justice system and the complex task of sentencing those who break the law.

We delve into what happened, the surrounding circumstances, and the factors a judge must consider when determining a sentence.

Then it’s up to you.

This session is open to all, regardless of your experience with the justice system.

Following the session, participants have the option of taking part in a tour of the QEII Courts of Law.
