About this Event
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
For many teachers, integration with the arts can seem daunting when faced with limited time and limited knowledge of a given art form. Experience the joy that comes (for both teacher and student) by learning simple art strategies that can be used across grade levels and subjects. Workshop participants will learn how to effortlessly use visual art to engage students in math, language arts, science, and social studies by using common classroom materials to create, analyze, and study art.
PRESENTER BIO:
Maele Shakespear has taught art at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. She holds a bachelor's degree in Art Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum Studies with an emphasis in curriculum integration. She currently works to support art teachers as a Professional Development Partner for the BTS Arts program. When Maele is not teaching or supporting teachers, she is mothering four fabulous kids and shopping at Target.
This workshop is open to classroom teachers, university students, arts educators, and school administrators
