Earthwatch, in collaboration in the Friends of Frank Banfield Park and Hammersmith Community Gardens Association (HCGA), would like to invite you to an afternoon of fun activities, including the opening of Frank Banfield Community Gardens by the Mayor!
There will be family-friendly activities all afternoon at two different locations in Frank Banfield Park: first is at the Tiny Forest that was planted earlier this year, and the second at the community garden.
At the Tiny Forest, we will be running a Discovery Day, where you can enjoy nature activities and science experiments, connect with nature, share food and meet other members of the community. This event is FREE and everyone’s welcome!
Date and Time: Friday the 27th of September, 3pm-6pm.

What the Tiny Forest event will include:
- Explore local wildlife like butterflies, bees and bugs.
- Enjoy fun mindful nature based activities.
- Meet other people in your local community.
- Free snacks provided, but feel free to bring along a picnic and water.
- You will also have an opportunity to participate in a greenspace and wellbeing study being conducted by the University of Oxford. More details can be found here. This is not mandatory but on the day there will be an option to take part in this study if you wish to. The reseracher will be there on the day to discuss the project with you.
What the Community Garden event will include:
- Opening of Frank Banfield Community Garden
- At 4pm the Mayor will join to officiate the opening
- There will also be other amazing acticities (more info here)

Outdoor shoes and clothing are advised. If you have gardening gloves please bring these with you too.
Please also bring a phone or tablet along with you in order to use our online science surveys. We will have printed copies on the day too if that’s not possible.
