Tiny Concerts

The Tiny Concerts series celebrates Trinity’s newly handcrafted pipe organ with 45-minute performances in an intimate, 60-seat setting.

Crafted by artisans from Richards, Fowkes & Co. to play 17th-century music, the organ was built to fit the Chapel of All Saints, a jewel-box space tucked off the nave of Trinity Church. “Organs are literally part of a building’s architecture,” explains Avi Stein, Trinity’s organist. “But that means the building is part of the instrument also, and partly responsible for how it will sound.”

The chapel, added to the church in 1912, is “a buffer from chaotic downtown Manhattan.” The Tiny Concerts promise to further that feeling of remove with a sound that is “warm, yet exciting,” offering “a musical dialogue that isn’t possible with newer, more orchestral instruments.”
