About this Event

Charles Atlas: The Mathematics of Consciousness

September 10–November 20, 2022 : Reservations are free, but required

Charles Atlas: The Mathematics of Consciousness centers on a newly commissioned multimedia installation that takes inspiration from the seminal film and video artist’s ongoing interests in science and math—particularly, memory, thought formation, and numerical expressions. Combining original footage and segments culled from his extensive archives, the immersive video work extends across 100 feet of the institution’s interior architecture, projecting flickering images throughout its windows

Anya Kielar: Shadow Box

September 10–December 10, 2022 : Reservations are free, but required

Shadow Box is Red Hook-based artist Anya Kielar's first institutional solo presentation, comprising a set of newly commissioned shadow box sculptures, her largest to date, that delve into the portrayal of female subjects through the aesthetic device of shallow relief. The consistent thread through Kielar's references is the intent to approach the human body as a vessel that can change shape to meet the cultural tides around it. She bases her figures on archetypes, such as the Muse or the Amazon, that have lingered through the ages and inspired constant reinterpretation.

Umber Majeed: Made in Trans-Pakistan

September 10–December 10, 2022 : Reservations are free, but required

Made in Trans-Pakistan is artist and past PW Resident Umber Majeed's first solo institutional presentation. The multi-media installation features augmented reality, sculpture, and video, with the artist's familial history and archives serving as its conceptual basis. It marks the latest chapter in Majeed's ongoing project titled Trans-Pakistan Zindabad (Long Live Trans-Pakistan).
