On Saturday, April 19, join TIME WARP DRIVE-IN as we kick off season 12 with a trio of dark sci-fi masterpieces and explore the cinematic world of an acclaimed legendary author. What lies ahead is a mystery - let’s descend into a FUTURE UNKNOWN: THE SCI-FI WARNINGS OF PHILLIP K. DICK…Over a career spanning 44 novels and hundreds of short stories, American writer Phillip K. Dick’s prophetic and paranoid tales of our collective future paint a disturbed, grim vision of what lies ahead for humanity. His highly influential works inspired countless other writers, and of course, filmmakers. Over 20 films have been adapted from his books, with hundreds of famous films clearly inspired by his work, including THE MATRIX, GATTACA, 12 MONKEYS, THE TRUMAN SHOW, INCEPTION, and DARK CITY.
You’re invited to face the future with three of the most acclaimed films adapted from his work. Start the night with the award-winning 1982 dark sci-fi noir BLADE RUNNER, starring Harrison Ford and made by celebrated director Ridley Scott (ALIEN, GLADIATOR). Then shift gears into explosive action insanity as Arnold Schwarzenegger leads a revolution on Mars in the 1990 film TOTAL RECALL. And end the night with the drugged-out, mind-bending conspiracy of A SCANNER DARKLY, starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., and Winona Ryder and made in 2006.
