About this Event
Time Capsule Letter Club (TCLC) is part journaling circle, part stationery club, and part snail-mail society built around the practice of writing letters to your future self. At each gathering, participants handwrite letters or create artworks meant to be read and reflected back months from now, capturing thoughts, hopes, and moments in time.
For those wanting the full experience, we provide archiving add on for letters and creations made at this live event, that with help from our friends at USPS will get mailed back to you at your chosen future date.
Rooted in analog creativity, the club brings back the joy of slowing down, putting pen to paper, and trusting the mail to carry a message across time. It’s for anyone who enjoys quiet reflection, thoughtful correspondence, or simply the magic of receiving a letter from their past self.
Participants are encouraged to make friends and connect the old-fashioned way—through handwritten words, shared tables, and unhurried conversations. The club is also a gentle space to meet new people, with one hard rule, participants may only “connect” by… you guessed it, traditional correspondence. Your “linkedin” is banned in this event. The host will actively fine people who try to “network”. (it cost me $800 to run this event pre food lol bribe me and I’ll allow it)
Find and form actual friendships, form a pen-pal connection. Be not afraid in disclosing any personal data here, as you don’t have to! you can peruse SP SCAP for this activity. If you’re a SCAP subscriber, simply write down your new friend’s name and drop off your letter to us to trigger You’ve Got (Physical) Mail! system. Your new friend will be notified and will have something nice to look forward in receiving at next meeting. Letters/Creations dropped off this way can be picked up at Any SCAP events! (not just TCLC)
If you do choose the future letter add on, please never address the envelope yourself! While we want to spread joy to mail clerk and courier friends at USPS as well (they love seeing decorated envelopes) we want to make their job as smooth and easy as possible by printing out easily legible mailing label at a later date instead.
Activities include:
- Mail art — decorate envelopes and letters as personal keepsakes
- Guided letter writing — prompts focused on reflection, intention, and future selves
- New Year–specific activities
- Make-your-own ink & pen workshop (optional add-on) — hands-on exploration of writing tools
- Collaborative art making — shared creations that celebrate time, memory, and connection
Free service for SCAP members include: You’ve Got Mail! system — a notification system when somebody drop off mail addressed to you! pinged to your preferred socials.
