Spend five days learning to timber frame on our unique site, surrounded by Anglo-Saxon Halls, Iron Age and Bronze Age Roundhouses, and a Stone Age timber-framed temple. Discover the ancient art of taking timber from the source through to a functional item, under the expert tutelage of Butser treewright Darren Hammerton. Test out a variety of historic tools, from flint and bronze axes to medieval and modern tools. Stay in our timber-framed Saxon hall for an additional fee. 📅 Five day workshop Mon to Fri, 10am - 4pm with a break for lunch
🪵 Learn a range of timber framing techniques such as scribing a joint, using shave horses, drawknives, and axes to make wedges and treenails, a squaring timbers. Beginner friendly.
