Tim Snider & Wolfgang Timber w/ Peter Joseph Burtt
TS & WT Bio:
Whether he's playing alongside Trevor Hall and the Great In Between, performing his solo show, fronting his band, or jamming with the many artists he’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with, Tim Snider’s passion for music always shines through. He brings his unique style and energy to the stage and has captivated the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide.
Music runs deep for Tim, spanning back generations. His great-grandfather was a doctoral graduate violinist and composer from Harvard. His great-grandmother was an opera singer and his grandmother—a passionate violinist as well—prophesied that he would be the family’s next violinist while holding him on her deathbed when he was two months old. An Itzhak Perlman performance on Sesame Street became his earliest musical inspiration—at just three-and-a-half—and classical music first provided the impetus to learn his instrument. Over the years other influences have come into play: from exposure to the raw energy of rock music he picked up guitar, watching a Ben Harper concert turned him onto songwriting, and sojourns in Spain and Cuba introduced flamenco, salsa, and Afro-Cuban rhythms into his repertoire. Embracing these diverse influences, Tim's musical odyssey took him to uncharted territories. Returning to college, he spent a year studying jazz and eventually rediscovered his love of classical music.
With a career now spanning international borders, music has led Tim to tour throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Brazil, Central America, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. He has written and recorded countless string arrangements for artists across the globe including hip-hop Icon Talib Kweli, Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, Kairo, Baby Fisher, Justine Sky, Hire, Satsang, and many more. He has shared the stage as a featured guest with legends such as Dispatch, the Colorado Symphony, OAR, John Butler, Michael Franti, G-love, Donovan Frankenreiter, Mike Love, and many others. During his five-year tenure with Nahko and Medicine for the People he played on iconic stages to sold-out crowds in amphitheaters like Red Rocks and The Greek to stadiums like Suntrust Park and Rogers Centre. As well as some of the world’s biggest music festivals: Bonnaroo, Byron Bay Blues, Caliroots, and Glastonbury.
From a young age, Tim knew he wanted to pursue a life of music. Driven by a thirst for musical exploration, his journey is a testament to the power of passion and dedication. Now with three albums and two EPs of his own under his belt, Tim Snider continues to push musical boundaries and himself as he aims to inspire others with each new endeavor.
PJB Bio:
Peter Joseph Burtt is a lifelong drummer and singer/songwriter. His music draws from many sources to inform his music and chronicle the years he spent living and studying with master musicians of Africa. Much of his music is played on traditional instruments, notably the lute like Kora and the Mbira or thumb piano. Songs are also transposed for the guitar.

He was completing a Master of Arts degree in San Francisco in creative writing and African drum and folklore when he began looking to cultures that maintain oral histories for connections between rhythm, music, and the spoken word. Upon learning of the melodious music of the Mbira and the corresponding poetry of the Shona people he travelled first to Zimbabwe, then Ghana and the Gambia, staying long in each place, living and moving within the society of the traditional musician while expanding his own musical vision. To further facilitate a sharing of ideas he worked as a teaching assistant finding he could learn as much from the children as he could from the masters.
His popular west coast band the King Tide helps bridge these influences back home. He has toured extensively, recorded with award winning artists, and his songs receive national radio airplay. He has taught songwriting, percussion, and guitar at festivals and workshops with many top musicians and instructors.
Peter Joseph Burtt and The King Tide’s new 10-track album ‘Mermaid’s Curse’ is now available.
Peter Joseph Burtt is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for blending American roots music with world music influences, particularly from Africa. His music incorporates elements of blues, folk, and reggae, often featuring traditional African instruments such as the **kora** (a West African harp) and various types of drums.
Burtt’s music is heavily influenced by his time spent living and studying music in Africa. He traveled extensively across the continent, particularly in West Africa, where he learned to play the kora and developed an understanding of African rhythms and musical traditions. This influence is a defining feature of his sound, which merges African music with Western genres like blues and folk.
Despite his global influences, Burtt remains rooted in American blues and folk traditions. His songwriting often features introspective, thoughtful lyrics, delivered in a style reminiscent of classic blues artists.
In addition to the kora, Burtt is a skilled percussionist, playing African drums such as the Djembe. His incorporation of these instruments gives his music a unique, cross-cultural feel. His music has a rhythmic and melodic complexity that reflects his global influences while maintaining a strong connection to American roots music.
Burtt has performed both as a solo artist and with his band, The King Tide, which features a rotating lineup of musicians. The band's sound expands on Burtt’s blend of blues and world music, incorporating reggae, rock, and other genres into their performances.
Peter Joseph Burtt’s music often explores themes of personal growth, spirituality, and connection to nature. His cross-cultural approach to music has earned him a dedicated following, particularly among fans of world music and fusion genres. While he may not be widely known in mainstream circles, his work has been appreciated in the world music and festival scenes.
Burtt’s commitment to blending diverse musical traditions into a cohesive and authentic sound sets him apart as an artist who bridges the gap between different cultures, creating music that is both globally minded and deeply personal.
