Tim Burton’s Universe by Mystery Ensemble

Оp 6 juni om 20.00u vindt een uitzonderlijk concert plaats in het sfeervolle interieur van de Zuiderkerk in hartje Amsterdam.

Van de fonkelende verwondering van Alice in Wonderland tot de feestelijke magie van The Nightmare Before Christmas, van de aangrijpende lyriek van Edward Scissorhands tot de excentrieke schittering van Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, dit concert dompelt je onder in de klankwerelden die Burtons unieke filmuniversum hebben gevormd.

Centraal staat de muziek van Danny Elfman, Burtons levenslange samenwerkingspartner en een van de meest karakteristieke filmcomponisten van onze tijd. Elfmans muziek verweeft speelsheid met dreiging, tederheid met grandeur en is een perfecte weerspiegeling van Burtons visuele verbeelding. Naast Elfman, omvatten de hoogtepunten onvergetelijke momenten uit Corpse Bride, de cultfavoriet Beetlejuice, de gotische zwaarte van Batman en het vlijmscherpe drama van Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

In dit concert brengt Mystery Ensemble Burtons werelden tot leven in een unieke arrangementen. Verwacht zwevende stemmen, gedurfde instrumentale kleuren en een sfeer die in een oogwenk verandert, van macaber naar magisch, van intiem naar episch.

🎻Mystery Ensemble 

Mystery Ensemble is een groep professionele musici die unieke programma's uitvoeren op niet-standaard locaties over de hele wereld. 

Ervaar meesterwerken uit verschillende tijdperken, experimentele muziek, tributes en wereldmuziek van films en series, evenals unieke programma's en meeslepende shows. Alle muziek wordt gepresenteerd in arrangementen van de auteur. Met de vrijblijvende mogelijkheid tot keuze van programma, onverwachte locaties en flexibiliteit van het format, staat ons team van professionele artiesten steeds paraat om hun favoriete muziek bij jou tot leven te brengen. 

Onze creative studio voor hedendaagse muziek werd opgericht in 2021 en is snel gegroeid, met meer dan 40 shows in het VK gedurende het eerste jaar. Oprichter Alexander Almin heeft intussen meer dan 12 jaar van zijn leven gewijd aan de muziekindustrie en de ontwikkeling van culturele initiatieven over de hele wereld. 

Het repertoire van het ensemble is uiterst divers. Voorbeelden van onze meest geliefde programma’s zijn o.a. tributeconcerten van wereldsterren als Ludovico Einaudi, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Ólafur Arnalds en Joe Hisaishi, of de minimalisten John Cage en David Lang. Tegelijkertijd voert het ensemble populaire soundtracks uit van sensationele tv-shows en films: Wednesday, The Young Pope, Harry Potter, een verscheidenheid aan Disney- en Pixar-films, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings en The Hobbit-saga, Spencer, Star Wars e.a. Er is ook de unieke muziek van Enigma, Enya, gecombineerd met neoklassieke muziek, of wereldrockhits, en tributes aan de legendarische Michael Jackson, Queen en de Beatles. Voor liefhebbers Klassiek bevat de ensemblecollectie ook muziek van W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, L.V. Beethoven, R. Wagner, I. Strauss, P.I. Tsjaikovski, S.V. Rachmaninov en alle toonaangevende klassieke componisten. En daarnaast nog zoveel meer. Elke maand brengt de studio nieuwe programma's uit en actualiseert ze haar bestaand repertoire. 

Voor sommige producties komt het team samen als onderdeel van een kamer- of klein symfonieorkest.

From the shimmering wonder of Alice in Wonderland to the festive magic of The Nightmare Before Christmas, from the haunting lyricism of Edward Scissorhands to the eccentric brilliance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory — this concert immerses you in the soundscapes that shaped Burton’s unique cinematic universe. 

At the heart of it all is the music of Danny Elfman, Burton’s lifelong collaborator and one of the most distinctive film composers of our time. Elfman’s music blend playfulness with menace, tenderness with grandeur — a perfect mirror of Burton’s visual imagination. Alongside Elfman, highlights include unforgettable moments from Corpse Bride, the cult favourite Beetlejuice, the gothic sweep of Batman, and the razor-sharp drama of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

In this concert, Mystery Ensemble brings Burton’s worlds to life in unique arrangements. Expect soaring voices, bold instrumental colours, and an atmosphere that shifts in an instant — from the macabre to the magical, from the intimate to the epic.

Mystery Ensemble is a group of professional musicians performing unique programs on non-standard venues around the world. 

Experience outstanding works from different eras, experimental music, tributes, and world soundtracks of films and series, as well as absolutely unique programs and immersive shows. All music presented in author’s arrangements. With the possibility of independent choice of the program, unexpected locations, and flexibility of the format, our team of professional musicians is inspired to bring their favorite music to life. 

Founded in 2021, our studio of contemporary music has grown rapidly, with over 40 shows in the UK in its first year of performing. Our founder, Almin Alexander, has devoted more than 12 years of his life to the music industry and the development of cultural initiatives around the world, working with many outstanding musicians and musical groups. 

The ensemble’s repertoire contains an incredible amount of music. Just look at some of the programs so dearly loved by our viewers: these are tribute concerts of such great composers as Ludovico Einaudi, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Ólafur Arnalds, Joe Hisaishi, or the minimalists’ John Cage and David Lang, along with At the same time, the ensemble performs popular soundtracks from sensational TV shows and movies: Wednesday, The Young Pope, Harry Potter, a variety of Disney and Pixar films, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit saga, Spencer, Star Wars and others. There is also the unique music of Enigma, Enya, combined with neoclassical music, or world rock hits, and tributes to the legendary Michael Jackson, Queen and the Beatles. For lovers of the classics, the ensemble collection contains music by W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, L.V. Beethoven, R. Wagner, I. Strauss, P.I. Tchaikovsky, S.V. Rachmaninov, and all key composers — classics. And much more. Every month the studio releases new programs and updates the existing repertoire. 

For some projects, the team gathers as part of a chamber or small symphony orchestra.
