ROCHESTER NY – The Rochester Irish Musicians' Association presents a concert with accomplished fiddler and singer Tim Ball on Friday November 18th 2022. The concert will be a celebration of Tim’s latest recording Upstate Crossroads. Tim will be accompanied by guitarist/pianist Max Newman. Concert begins at 7:30 pm. $10 at the door. Tim Ball - After 20 years performing in Celtic and contra dance bands and a lifetime of playing traditional fiddle music, Tim takes center stage with his new solo release Upstate Crossroads. The album sheds new light on well-loved and nearly forgotten fiddle tunes and songs from all corners of New York State and the Irish-American, New England, Canadian, and Bluegrass traditions.
A respected performer and teacher, Tim is the guitarist for the acclaimed Celtic trio Arise & Go and has toured throughout the northeastern US with many contra dance bands. In addition, he’s taught at respected music and dance camps such as Ashokan and Pinewoods. https://timballmusic.com/
Max Newman - Max Newman will join Tim for this concert, playing guitar, piano, and mandolin. A member of the nationally known contra dance band Stringrays, Max’s playing is refreshing, fun, and creative, and has allowed him to collaborate with a great variety of traditional musicians. He’s made several albums with the Stringrays and others. Max has also been profiled in Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. When not on the road, Max can often be found at his local contra dance in Concord, Massachusetts. https://www.maxnewman.com/
