To celebrate NAIDOC Week, we’ve put together an unmissable triple bill featuring Tilly Tjala Thomas, Rob Edwards and Dj MoZzi as part of Illuminate Adelaide Live @ The Lab! Immerse yourself in back to back performances from three incredible artists for a night of vibrant storytelling, mesmerising rhythms and cultural exploration in a dynamic homage to NAIDOC Week.Tilly Tjala Thomas:
Tilly Tjala Thomas is a Nukunu singer-songwriter, who grew up on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South of Adelaide. Since finishing school in 2020, the electronic pop and indie musician has bagged numerous industry accolades, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Musician of the Year, NIMA Unearthed Award at the 2021 National Indigenous Music Awards and the Emily Burrows Award at the 2021 South Australian Music Awards. Last year, Tilly was awarded the Stigwood Artist Fellowship (2022) and released her first EP, Sanctuary.
Rob Edwards:
Soulfully inspired, multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter, Rob Edwards combines the moving melodies of jazz, blues and R&B with the powerful art of storytelling to create a unique and authentic sound, sure to leave a lasting impression. Rob combines his passion for culture and Indigenous roots and his family's story through the stolen generation, with his heavy influences of new wave soul makers Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei, and Tom Misch to bring impactful messages supported by head-bopping grooves and tonal explorations. An ever-expanding sonic journey of raw emotion.
DJ MoZzi:
DJ MoZzi an Aboriginal, Maori and Cook Islander based in Port Augusta, SA. MoZzi mixes your favourites with splash of flavour. A Wangkangurru / Adnyamathanha / Cook Island Maori Artist who creates and holds the vibes that will keep you going all night. Mixing Hip Hop, RnB, Funk and House/Tech House. It's an automatic guarantee that he will get you up on the dancefloor. But Don’t get too comfortable as some of his live sets are entertaining as you can find yourself dancing to a country song by the end of the night. He has been a frequent contributor to the Art Gallery of South Australia’s Neo program as well as Gluttony ‘Light up’ 2023 new years event, he also featured on Triple J as part of the 2021 NAIDOC Mix UP line-up.
