Nicolas Philibert will deliver a masterclass, titled “Improvise, an Ethical Necessity” and moderated by documentarist, producer and screenwriter Marco Gastine (Pavlos Zannas - Saturday March 8th, 11.00-12.30).
“Over time, improvisation has become an ethical necessity for me. Above all, do not explain anything. Do not subject your film to a program, to a prior ‘meaning’. Besides, nothing ever goes as planned, the presence of a camera always reshuffles the cards. Making a documentary means dealing with the accidental, with everything that escapes predictions. The most beautiful scenes are often those that come about by surprise, without premeditation. For me, the most essential thing is to have a solid starting point, like the promise that something will blossom.”
The masterclass will be held in French with a simultaneous translation in English and in Greek, and has a free admission for the audience, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Ο Νικολά Φιλιμπέρ θα παραδώσει masterclass με τίτλο «Αυτοσχεδιασμός, μια ηθική αναγκαιότητα» (Σάββατο 8/3, Παύλος Ζάννας, 11:00-12:30), το οποίο θα συντονίσει ο σκηνοθέτης ντοκιμαντέρ, παραγωγός και σεναριογράφος Μάρκο Γκαστίν.
«Με τον καιρό, ο αυτοσχεδιασμός έχει γίνει για μένα ηθική αναγκαιότητα. Πάνω απ’ όλα, μην εξηγείτε τίποτα. Μην υποβάλλετε την ταινία σας σ’ ένα πρόγραμμα, σ’ ένα προκαθορισμένο “νόημα”. Άλλωστε, τίποτα δεν πηγαίνει ποτέ σύμφωνα με το σχέδιο – η παρουσία της κάμερας ανακατεύει πάντα την τράπουλα. Η δημιουργία ενός ντοκιμαντέρ σημαίνει να αντιμετωπίζεις το απρόοπτο, ό,τι ξεφεύγει από τις προβλέψεις. Οι πιο όμορφες σκηνές είναι συχνά εκείνες που προκύπτουν ως έκπληξη, απρόσμενα. Για μένα το πιο ουσιαστικό είναι να υπάρχει ένα στέρεο σημείο εκκίνησης, σαν μια υπόσχεση ότι κάτι θα ανθίσει».
Το masterclass θα είναι δωρεάν για το κοινό, με σειρά προτεραιότητας, και θα διεξαχθεί στα γαλλικά, με ταυτόχρονη διερμηνεία στα αγγλικά και στα ελληνικά.
