Steve White Trio. The Style Council and Paul Weller drummer extraordinaire released his first solo album on Acid Jazz in March 2026
A glorious tribute to his jazz routes and filmic influences, which features an imaginative reworking of TSC’s ‘My Ever Changing Mood’
The Trio are: Steve White, Chris Hague and Joel White
Considered one of the best drummers of his generation, Steve is of course best known for his long association with Paul Weller. He first played with the Style Council at the age of 17 on the hit single ‘Long Hot Summer’ before becoming a permanent member. He continued on through Weller’s biggest solo albums such as Wildwood, Stanley Road, Heavy soul and As Is Now.
Alongside this he continued to record both jazz and soul, under names such as Trio Valore and of course the Jazz Renegades, his great late ‘80s hard bop outfit that recorded an LP for Polydor and another for Acid Jazz precursor label Re-Elect The President, as well as an EP for Acid Jazz. Along the way he has also played with artists including: Working Week, Galliano, The Young Disciples, The James Taylor Quartet, Oasis, The Who, Ocean Colour Scene, Jon Lord, Ginger Baker, La Roux, Ian Dury and many more.
