Mark your calendars, it is almost time for the Art Auction & Fine Arts Night at Tibbets! Friday, March 14th from 6:00-8:00 we will be hosting free make and take art stations, glazing bisqueware ($10 donation to cover supplies), and a wonderful silent and live auction with pieces made by Tibbets students and families and other incredible artists! If you have artwork to donate or would like to make something to donate please have them to the Art room by Thursday, March 13th. I am so excited to get to see what everyone creates this year! Last year we had everything from baskets of handmade art cookies to paintings. Other ideas: photography, jewelry, resin art, welded sculptures, woodworking, quilts/blankets, handmade cards and so much more! If you can dream it and create it, you can donate it! Make something with your kids or recruit an artist you know to help. I am always so impressed at the variety and the skill in our very own Tibbets community! Thank you so much to EACH and EVERY one of you who has created and donated. It is because of you that this event is such a success and that we are able to offer such experiences above and beyond to our students in a state of the art Arts program! Go Tibbets!!!
Curious where your funds go? Over the years we have been able to purchase potter's wheels, clay and clay cabinets to keep clay projects safe while building and drying, a class set of iPads, a class set of gelli printmaking plates, and so many other supplies to enhance all students' art experience beyond what our school budget allows. Last year we even had a Nationally renowned muralist come and talk to all the classes, while they got to watch her work and ask her questions. It was truly an amazing experience that would not have been possible without all of you and your support of the arts. Proceeds this year will be going to purchasing two more potter's wheels (all students use these in 5th grade and our 5th grade class for next year is a big one so having 6 wheels instead of 4 would be ideal and get each student more time on them) and other sculpture and printmaking materials so we can do more in those areas with all students and grade levels at Tibbets. Those are always a favorite but not in the budget so your donations really help me create opportunities for each student that they would not otherwise have.
