One of Canada’s most recognizable voices in jazz, Tia Brazda returns from sold-out shows in Europe with her cheerful brand of vintage jazz-pop and a new album When I Get Low, now out on Flatcar Records. Brazda will be showcasing the album at Frankie's Jazz Club (755 Beatty St.) as part of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Entry: $20

Brazda’s jazz-pop gems and retro style have established her as a strong and unique presence on the jazz scene, both at home in Canada and abroad. Not only a singer, but a songwriter as well, she has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, as well as toured numerous times around the world, from intimate supper clubs to large outdoor festivals. Her music has been described as a “hip pastiche” and a “walking catalog of 20th century jazz styles”. Her first single “Cabin Fever” broke through in 2012 and she followed that up with the 2015 full-length Bandshell, named as one of the best of the decade in the Italian press and one of the best of the year by Jazz FM 91 in Toronto.
