One of Pittsburgh’s best emerging jazz musicians and lifelong guitarist, Mila Shadel, takes to the Alphabet City stage with one mission: to merge the worlds of jazz and pop. In the form’s many years of life, jazz has never been a stranger to play. It is a genre itching to be riffed on, blurring lines and bending rules. With influences including jazz guitarists like George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, and Emily Remler, Mila Shadel and her accompanying musicians use this performance to reimagine pop songs in a jazz quartet setting.
