Kansas City–born pianist Don Clore brings a lifetime of jazz experience to the piano, with a repertoire rooted in the standards, bebop, blues and Brazilian music that have kept him at the keyboard since his youth.
A student of Kansas City jazz pianists Paul Smith and John Elliott, Clore spent the early 1980s touring throughout the Midwest, South and West, later working as a solo pianist and performing with the Horace Washington Band. Along the way, he shared the bandstand with Kansas City musicians including guitarist Cal Green, Queen Bey, Lori Tucker and Milt Abel.
In recent years, Clore has returned to performing and recording in earnest. His Don Clore Piano Musings YouTube channel, launched in 2023, now features more than 100 performances, documenting his evolving approach to the jazz repertoire.

Free Jazz Thursday shows at The Ship are a good way to discover emerging local musical talent in a cozy, intimate setting. The shows are free to attend, but your donations are appreciated to help us offset costs and pay the performers.
