Thursday Evening Hand Building and Throwing

Want to try a little bit of everything? Spend your Thursday nights exploring clay in this relaxed, six-week class combining hand-building and wheel throwing.

Clay Sampler is designed for all skill levels, whether you’re getting your hands in clay for the first time or you’re an experienced potter looking for guidance on your next project. There’s no one-size-fits-all project list here - you’ll have the freedom to explore the techniques and ideas that interest you most.

Want to learn how to throw on the wheel? Give hand-building a try? Finally make that tea set you’ve been thinking about? Instructor Lois will work with you step by step, offering demonstrations, guidance, and plenty of encouragement along the way.

Come with an idea or come ready to experiment - either way, you’ll have six weeks to play with clay, build your skills, and see where your creativity takes you.

What’s Included

• One 25 lb. bag of stoneware clay

• Use of studio glazes

• Use of studio tools

• Bisque and glaze firing for pieces made from your included bag of clay*

• 2 Open Studio sessions for extra time to practice and work on your projects
  (No formal instruction, but studio monitors are available for questions.)

A Few Studio Notes

• Guidance on preparing your work for firing will be provided throughout the course. To help us make the most of our kiln space, the combined dimensions of any single piece may not exceed 24" (for example: 4" H + 8" W + 12", L = 24").

• All projects must be completed and Open Studio sessions used within two weeks of the final class

• Additional clay, personal tool kits, and a variety of glazes are available for purchase at All Hands Pottery Studio

• *Additional pieces can be fired for a fee!
