This intermediate workshop is for potters who are already comfortable on the wheel and want to learn new skills.We’ll focus on throwing off the hump — centering and working from a larger mound of clay to produce multiple similar forms efficiently — followed by throwing containers with well-fitted lids
.
Topics covered:
-Handling and centering larger amounts of clay
-Throwing off the hump for speed and consistency
-Planning proportions and controlling wall thickness
-Throwing and fitting lids without guesswork
With a 1.5-hour break, your pieces will have time to firm up so we can do same-day trimming, lid fitting, and refining.
Workshop include 3kg clay, a drink and firing of 2 containers.
Skill prerequisites:
Participants should be able to independently center and throw small to medium forms (cups or bowls) and be comfortable trimming basic forms. This workshop is not suitable for beginners.
Come throw, refine, and get comfortably nerdy with clay at MITT Studio. Dm to book!
