Registration required
Join field trip leaders Ben Hannah and Kathy McCoy for the second trip in our four‑season Elwha Valley series! We’ll follow the same peaceful route as in March—starting at Madison Falls, checking the river for dippers, mergansers, geese, and (with luck) Harlequin and Wood Ducks. Warblers are back, and the maple grove should be lively with woodpeckers and songbirds.
We’ll walk about a mile along the quiet, car‑free stretch of Olympic Hot Springs Road to the 2017 washout, passing through a mix of forest and open habitats. By June, up to eight warbler species and all five local flycatchers are possible, along with swallows, swifts, tanagers, thrushes, and more.
Bring binoculars if you have them—spotting scopes will be available to share. Free to attend. Learn more and register at https://olympicpeninsulaaudubon.org/events-calendar/opas-field-trip-through-the-seasons-elwha-river-end-of-spring
