Through the Looking Glass: A DP's Guide to Picking the Right Set with Jayson Crothers

Lenses are one of the most important tools a Cinematographer has, and choosing the right set (and why) is one of the most important artistic and technical decisions made during pre-production. In this class we will walk step-by-step through how to test and evaluate lenses, exploring optical traits, mechanical reliability, creative intent, and practical considerations.
This class will go beyond the theoretical - we’ll be evaluating and considering lenses for an upcoming project shooting in Phoenix this November. Attendees will get a real world look at how and why certain lenses are selected (or not selected) for a production.
The class will conclude with an open Q&A.
