About this Event
Join us for another free-to-attend LGBTQ+ arts and heritage workshop. Each event is completely free to attend and includes all of the resources and knowledge! The event is open to LGBTQ+ people aged 16 years old and above.
Workshop - Rozi (she/her) A.K.A. The Crafty Dyke. Rozi is a proud queer jewellery designer, organiser, and maker. As part of her art practice, she aims to spread the joy of making and communal creation, with no expectations. Rozi also designs her own line of handmade jewellery and accessories. These designs celebrate queer identities and their intersections with other subcultures: some feature identity words such as butch, femme, top, bottom, and more. Rozi's style is best described as kitsch c. 2003, with a gay edge.
This will be a relaxed space where you can participate at the level thatβs right for you.
This workshop is an opportunity for you to learn more about Rozi's practice, queer community & create artwork to give to your loved ones or be featured in an exhibition at the New House Gallery!
This event is free to attend but does include an optional donation to support Blossom LGBT CIC's work in providing social spaces, mentoring & life skill classes to LGBTQ+ young adults. If you do choose to donate EventBrite automatically adds a small processing fee - We're sorry about this.
In previous workshops, we've focused on different media such as making collages and painting! We'll explore a brand new art style in this upcoming event.
Art is considered to be a leading form of mindfulness and is a great way to improve your general wellbeing. We combine this fantastic skill with LGBTQ+ identities to provide a safe space to allow you to explore and express your identity in a supportive environment.
Accessibility - The workshop will be held in the gallery on the ground floor. The venue has one step from the main entrance to the foyer and gallery spaces, a ramp is available. An accessible toilet is located in the foyer to the left-hand side of the main entrance, no RADAR lock is required. The doors are not automated but front-of-house staff can assist if needed.
Blossom LGBT CIC - BlossomLGBT works with LGBTQIA+ young adults from the age of 16 to 30 across the UK. Our goal is to support the amazing things that LGBTQIA+ people can achieve when they are empowered to succeed without the fear of discrimination. Blossom also offers several professional services such as consultancy and training to businesses whilst also offering free workshops, social spaces, and mentoring. Blossom LGBT CIC is a trans-led organisation. We are proud to encourage trans+ people, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour to attend our events.
