We have the Unite Birmingham Bin strike, workers facing cuts amounting to a quarter of their wages, while the Labour government, up to press, refuses to instruct the commissioners to negotiate a settlement.
We have the Unite Veolia strike in Sheffield, for the demand of rights of recognition with the employer, something that Sheffield Council could demand of it's contractor in this outsourced Local Authority service.
And we have the ASLEF dispute at Hull Trains, to fight for the job of a driver sacked with zero evidence for raising concerns about fatigue. The transport minister could take this franchise off First Group and nationalise the service for the terrible way they have conducted industrial relations on this contract.
In this public meeting, we will hear from workers and officials from all three disputes.
Speakers:
Luke Dalton - Birmingham Bins striker from Perry Barr depot.
Joel Mayfield - Sheffield Veolia refuse striker
Nigel Roebuck (invited) - ASLEF District 4 officer
Sarah Woolley - General Secretary of the Bakers, Food & Allied Workers Union
In the Chair - San Senik - Doncaster & District TUC.
This event is free but there will be a collection on the night that will be split evenly between the three hardship funds for each dispute.
