About this Event

Indulge in a night of culinary delight and community connection with Micah Siva! Dive into her world of reimagined Jewish cuisine as she shares stories, signs copies of her latest book NOSH: Plant-Forward Recipes Celebrating Modern Jewish Cuisine, and leads a captivating discussion followed by a screening of the heartwarming film Breaking Bread.

As a little girl, Micah’s favorite place was in the kitchen with her grandmother, Eva Epstein, who taught her that family is built by peering through the oven door, watching over a pot of chicken soup, and sitting around the dinner table. From her grandmother, she learned how to cook a Shabbat dinner and win the hearts of those she loved through their stomachs. Today, Micah has an avid social media following for creating appealing recipes that rethink Jewish cuisine as healthy for the body, soul, and planet while reinforcing a sense of tradition, comfort, and community.

Meet Micah and get your copy of her newest book NOSH: Plant-Forward Recipes Celebrating Modern Jewish Cuisine signed at 6 PM as an Appetizer.

The Main Course is at 7 PM - Micah will lead a discussion for those looking to connect with their community through food and gatherings in a way that feels meaningful, exciting, and true to their lifestyle, reflecting the culinary influences of the diversity of places where Jewish food has its roots—Africa, India, the Middle East, Western and Eastern Europe.

Don’t forget Dessert! Round out the evening with TCJFF’s 2021 hit Breaking Bread, a film about the A-Sham Arabic Food Festival, where pairs of Arab and Jewish chefs collaborate on dishes like kishek (a Syrian yogurt soup), and qatayef (a dessert typically eaten during Ramadan).

6 PM • Book Signing

7 PM • Discussion & Film
Books will be available for purchase from Cream & Amber, or order in advance at books.creamandamber.com.

“I hope that this book helps you find a new way to celebrate your heritage, to be unapologetically Jewish while being authentically you,” Siva writes. “… that it connects you to Judaism in new and exciting ways and provides you with inspiration to sprinkle a little bit of nosh throughout your everyday life.”
