Three-City Pre-Launch Book Tour: No One Heard My Silence — Stamford, CT
About this Event
About the Event
Children do not always have the words to explain what is happening to them. Their distress may appear through changes in behavior, emotions, communication, school performance, relationships, or physical well-being.
Hosted by Letitia Gottashe, author, educator, and child and family advocate, this 90-minute ticketed educational community event will examine the verbal and nonverbal cues that may indicate a child is being victimized.
At the center of the conversation is a difficult but necessary question:
When does an abused child receive justice?
Through storytelling, moderated discussion, and expert panel perspectives, the program will explore the physical and emotional effects of child abuse on school-aged children, as well as the broader impact of childhood trauma, domestic violence, mental health challenges, silence, resilience, and healing.
The discussion will consider how parents, caregivers, educators, schools, community leaders, and advocates can work together to recognize warning signs, respond responsibly, and support children and families throughout the healing process.
Key questions will include:
What is the legal definition of child abuse? What characteristics may be present in an abused minor? What steps should be taken when abuse is suspected? What services are available to support children and families? How can communities become more aware of the verbal and nonverbal cues of a victimized child?
The program will feature perspectives from professionals in education, public health, social work, mental health, advocacy, and lived experience. Guests will hear from a distinguished panel committed to building healthier, safer, and stronger communities.
