𝑱𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑲𝒊̄𝒂𝒏𝒐̄ 𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓, an Ōtautahi-born musician of Ngāti Rangitihi and Tūhoe descent, has spent over 20 years honing his craft. His music blends the ancient sounds of taonga pūoro (traditional Māori instruments) with modern guitar, creating a unique, calming atmosphere. Each note carries the weight of tradition, offering a deep connection to Māori culture and a space for personal growth.
𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒇𝒊 𝑴𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒖𝒔 (Ngāti Awa, Tainui) completed his Bachelor in Jazz Performance Guitar at ARA Jazz school in Ōtautahi.
He has recently begun a journey into Taonga Pūoro, the first instruments of Aotearoa. It's an absolute pleasure to have Hanafi supporting alongside the sonics of this event.
