Threads of Resistance
About this Event
Threads of Resistance
An Embroidery Workshop for Queer Expression, Allyship & Resistance
Friday, September 18, 2026 | 6:00–9:00 PM
Foy House - 92 Isabella Street
Join queer artist and creative wellbeing facilitator Kathryn Boyd for an evening of stitching, creativity, connection, and resistance.
In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore how thread, words, symbols, fabric, and found objects can become powerful tools for expression. You'll learn foundational embroidery techniques, experiment with fabric staining, explore ways to fasten found objects into your work, and learn how to stitch words, phrases, and simple lettering.
You'll create your own embroidered hoop featuring a word, phrase, or symbol that speaks to something you believe in, stand for, or want to see more of in the world. Choose from a selection of templates and symbols, or create your own design with guidance along the way.
You'll leave with a finished embroidered hoop that is uniquely yours—and the skills and inspiration to continue adding to it at home if you feel called to do so.

The standard ticket price.
Supporter Ticket — $75
For those who are able to contribute a little more. Your additional contribution helps support accessibility and keeps a limited number of Pay-What-You-Can spots available.
