About this Event
Join us at the end of March for our most captivating International Women’s Day event yet. We are bringing together visual art, raw testimony, and interactive performance to celebrate the tenacity of the female spirit and the fight for justice in Singapore.
The Highlights:
- Book Launch | The Saga Podcast Transcripts: Fury, Faith and the Fight for Justice
- Relive one of the most dramatic chapters in Singapore’s civil society history. We’re officially launching the print edition of the critically acclaimed podcast, bringing the legendary "AWARE Saga" to the page.
- Artist Spotlight 1 | Dr Margaret Tan: "Six Decades"
Lecture Title:
In Solidarity: Art and the Feminist Movement in Singapore
Art has the potential to provoke thought, create empathy, build resilience and solidarity. In her presentation, Margaret will share how she uses her art to express the feminist maxim “the personal is political”, connect with the feminist movement in Singapore, and commemorate their resilience and solidarity.
- Artist Spotlight 2 | Dr Natalie Lazaroo
Lecture Title:
The role of community circus in rebuilding trust, agency, and resilience among survivors of Domestic Family Violence
This lecture discusses ‘Circus in a Tea Cup', a community performance project involving a collaboration between survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV), and members of Vulcana Circus. Drawing on reflections and interviews with the women, it discusses how participation created opportunities for the women to reclaim their power, as well as build trust, community, and resilience.
- Interactive Workshop | Interwoven : Stories of Us By Rae Yi
In this reflective hands-on workshop, we explore weaving as a metaphor for identity and solidarity. Through a simple creative activity, we make artworks that honour our own journeys while recognising the quiet networks of support and community that hold us, reminding us that individual stories are strengthened through shared experience.
