Thomas Pell Canoe Cleanup for International Coastal Cleanup Day

This event, organized by Hutchinson River Restoration Project in partnership with Pelham Bay Park and the NYC Parks Rangers, offers a unique canoe-based cleanup experience within the sanctuary.

Participants will have the opportunity to help remove trash and debris from the Hutchinson River while exploring one of the area’s important natural habitats by canoe. The canoe group will travel upriver to the sanctuary and Goose Island to collect litter along the shoreline and marsh areas, with boats departing from the launch site at 9:00 AM.

For those who prefer to stay on land, the launch site itself will also serve as a cleanup area, allowing volunteers of all comfort levels to participate and make a meaningful impact.

The cleanup will conclude around 1:00 PM, though late arrivals are welcome. Join us in helping preserve the beauty of our local wildlife sanctuary, protect the Hutchinson River ecosystem, and make a positive impact on the environment and surrounding community.

The easiest way to get to the site is via the BX12 or BX29 buses or by bicycle.

Car parking is available at the Pelham Bit Stables, location.

We will be providing: sunscreen, bug spray, water, snacks, and everything needed for trash collection.

​Please double-check the number of tickets in your order before checking out, as we’ve had some issues. Every person in the group needs a ticket so we can have an accurate headcount.

Buying a ticket means you agree to the waiver. Please complete waiver prior to event. Note: Every attendee must fill out waiver. If you have others joining, please ensure they fill out the waiver above as well.
