With his new album ""Inner Optimist"", Berlin-based saxophonist Thomas Hähnlein aims to evoke an uplifting feeling in his listeners and through that awaken their ""inner optimist."" The lineup of his trio is surprising — saxophone, guitar and drums, no bass. The result is a very unique, intimate band sound, akin to that of chamber music.
The repertoire consists mostly of original compositions by the band leader, which draw on a variety of influences. Swing, groove, free elements—everything finds its place.
