Angry Cat Fest 2026 kicks off with an afternoon dedicated to Ben Wallers a.k.a. The Rebel, before the night show. We're screening This Film Should Not Exist, the documentary on Ben Wallers and Country Teasers, built from unreleased live footage of the band's chaotic 90s run, including the notorious 1995 tour with The Oblivians.
If you know, you know. And if you don't: Ben Wallers led Country Teasers, the Edinburgh art-punk outfit that spent the 90s making what people called "evil country," provocative, satirical songs delivered in live shows that walked the line between chaos and performance art. Comparisons run from The Fall and Sonic Youth to the satirist Jonathan Swift. These days he plays solo as The Rebel.
And Ben will be there in person for a Q&A after the film.
