About this Event
Thirsty Thursdays at the North Organic Farmers Market are starting in September! Enjoy live local music, sustainable wine, craft beer and other beverages, food demonstrations and a host of environmental activities while you shop for fresh and organic produce and products at the market.
For the entire months of September and October your shopping experience at the market will include an amazing lineup of local musicians including BHSJazz, UC Berkeley’s “Trill Seekers” a Cappella group and Maria Ana Bija whose vocals range from Brazilian to French to early American jazz. Fun for the entire family, bring the little ones for bubble blowing, art, dance, music and chalk art at the Kids Eco-Zone.
Meet our community leaders in sustainability at guest appearances by local chefs, wineries, breweries. Kitchen on Fire, will demonstrate and sample out recipes using fresh Farmers Market ingredients and introduce you to Rebout, a line of herbal wellness beverages made from all-natural ingredients. The Mt. Diablo Beekeepers will bring their demonstration hives so that you can watch these very important creatures up close and the City of Berkeley’s Office of Energy and Sustainable Development will present induction cooking demonstrations. Feeling crafty? You’ll have the opportunity to take a quick Upcycled Textiles workshop with artist Judith Schonebaum. Learn more about EBikes, Electric Cars and all electric cooking. Each week look forward to a new environmental activity hosted by the Ecology Center’s Education and Engagement program from in-person Zero Waste Audits to a Help Desk Pop-Pp, to a Sorting Plastics demonstration.
Each Thursday you will experience and learn something new - all while you are listening to great music, enjoying earth friendly beverages and getting in your weekly shopping. We hope to see you there!
