THIRD THURSDAY: Broken BoxesFree night at the Museum!
Thursday, October 17, 5:00 – 8:30pm
6:00pm: PLANTING JUSTICE / PAINTED DESERT
Join artists Kate Deciccio and Chip Thomas (aka jetsonomrama) from "Broken Boxes: A Decade of Art, Action, and Dialogue" for a conversation about community advocacy, social justice, and long-term actionable care. Both artists create portraits that affirm community culture and storytelling.
5:30-8:00pm: WHEATPASTE COLLAGES
Chip Thomas, Kate DeCiccio, and members of the Planting Justice Team invite all ages to create wheatpaste collages using materials from their current installations. Learn how Chip installs massive murals using gel medium, and make collages on wood using cyanotypes and screen prints of Planting Justice imagery and poetry.
Enjoy all the exhibitions open until 8:30pm, participate in a "bite-sized experience" for Halloween in the "Common Ground" exhibition (6:15 & 7:15pm), and do yoga with Bliss in the City (6:30-7:30pm) in Gallery 5.
