About this Event

In the eighteenth century, the Bloody Code was established in Britain, which imposed the death penalty for over 200 offences. Martin will discuss notorious cases from the time and the public executions in Lancaster.

Martin Baggoley is a retired probation officer who worked in the Greater Manchester area for almost forty years and during this time made he made many visits to Lancaster Pr*son. He has a degree in criminology and is a member of the Crime Writers Association. He is the author of several books on the history of true crime, including Death on the Victorian Beat.
