About this Event
Food tells stories. So do hands, tables, light, and what’s left behind after a meal.
In this intimate, hands-on workshop, There Is Always an & photographer Hedva Rokach invites participants to explore food photography as a doorway into deeper observation — not just what’s on the plate, but what surrounds it. Using only your smartphone, you will be guided by Hedva through the essentials of light, framing, perspective, and intention, and discover how everyday moments can become powerful visual narratives.
Rooted in Hedva’s artistic practice and her work documenting Jewish life across Maine, this workshop emphasizes curiosity over perfection and presence over polish. No fancy equipment. No prior experience. Just a willingness to slow down, stay present, and discover the many angles that live inside a single moment.
Participants will work with simple food — both in its natural state and incorporated into small bites — as part of the photography practice, using it to explore texture, color, shadow, and story.
This workshop is designed for curious adults, creatives, food lovers, and anyone who’s ever said, “I’m not a photographer, but…”
