About this Event
Surprise! We're bringing back our open mic series: opening up!
We do our open mic a little differently here. Each poet that performs will receive a mini-interview (1-2 questions dependant on time) a la the There's A Lot to Unpack Here's format!
To participate, please arrive ~7:30pm to sign up as we will be using the list to determine readers for the evening! The actual open mic will begin at 8pm!
Priority will be given to those who RSVP in advance (show RSVP at sign up!), however you will still need to sign up in person to read!
***There is a two bar item minimum (food, non-alcoholic beverages, any bar drinks) for attendees

Who we are...
TALTUH invites poets, patrons of the art, and those who have said “I don’t understand what any of this means” alike to a space that facilitates sharing original work and the education of poetics through interviewing its readers before a live audience. Interviewing of the poets to “unpack” their work is informed by producers who work to create thorough questions based on the readers' pieces prior to the evening to allow for readers to fill in the blanks while being guided to delve deeper into what their work seeks to accomplish in both form and feeling. This kind of emotional navigation of the work to be explored in earnest by the reader and the listeners to begin a cultivation of understanding of what is traditionally read between the lines.
TALTUH curates both readers and organizations for partnership ahead of shows to ensure we are showcasing artists with captivating and quality work. However, our utmost value in casting and curating events is to put diversity front and center. We pride ourselves on uplifting diverse poetry in form (spoken word, free verse, ballads, slam) and in DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion.) We value the safety and security of the poetry community and the vulnerability shared at events.
We have a 100 tolerance policy to not promote hate speech and anything that may isolate or make members of the community uncomfortable — especially with respect to the format of the show. TALTUH reserves the right to reject poets and poetry that do not comply with this. You will be asked to leave the event.
