Мы затронем биографию гениального физика-изобретателя, историческое значение терменвокса для Нью-Йорка и его отражение в современном музыкальном мире. Вы узнаете о возможностях и звучании современных инструментов, услышите популярные композиции из кинофильмов и сможете сами попробовать что-нибудь исполнить.

Надежда Николаева и Валентин Корниенко - музыканты из Украины, продолжающие свою творческую деятельность в Нью-Йорке, и чаще их можно увидеть в амплуа джазовых музыкантов - вокалистки и контрабасиста, но в этот вечер они выступят дуэтом терменвокс-гитара.

Theremin: Music Beyond Touch

This evening at KvartiraBooks (formerly MyBiblioteka), you will hear the story of one of the rarest musical instruments in the world, the theremin, and its creator, Léon Theremin.

We will touch on the biography of this brilliant physicist and inventor, the historical significance of the theremin to New York City, and its influence on the modern musical world.

You will learn about the possibilities and sound of contemporary theremins, hear popular film compositions, and even have a chance to try playing something yourself.

Nadezhda Nikolaeva, a jazz singer, and Valentyn Korniienko, a double bassist, are from Ukraine, but on May 30 they will perform as a theremin-and-guitar duo.
