About this Event
When Theremin player Edward Sussman waves his hands, he plays music from out of the air. In this unique musical history program, he reveals the 100-year-old story of the Theremin—the world’s first electronic instrument, which inspired the development of synthesizers and other musical technology that would later follow. Though its sound is mostly associated with old science fiction and horror films, it can also be heard in classical, jazz, and rock recordings. After the presentation, the audience can join Edward to experience for themselves this method of making music with a “wave of the hand.” This program is made possible by LA Made and the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.
The Edendale Library is at 2011 Sunset Blvd., but enter from the Alvarado St. side through the parking lot. Email [email protected] for more information.
