About this Event

There Are Only 9 Commercial Carrot Growers Left in Ireland
What does the future look like for the people growing our food? Ireland’s commercial growers are facing rising costs, unpredictable weather and pressure to supply food at prices that make it increasingly difficult to stay in business.
Using the stark reality of Ireland’s carrot growers as a starting point, Dara McCollough hosts a conversation with Kenneth Keavey of Green Earth Organics in Galway, Mick Kelly, founder of GIY, and Jenny McNally of McNally Family Farm in North County Dublin. They’ll talk about the challenges growers face, what we stand to lose if more leave the sector, and what needs to change to give the next generation a reason to grow food here
