Are you looking to sharpen your skills and learn hands on techniques you can take into working with kids and teens in your practice? Join us for a 4-part lunch-and-learn series Thursdays at noon and use your “summer slump” to get new tools in your toolkit before the return to school rush.
With this system-based approach, not only will you learn how to engage kids and teens in the therapy room, but how to engage parents and caregivers and work with complex systems such as DFPS, CASA, and social service organizations to fully support your clients.
This training series is provided by Dr. Bethany Walker, LCSW-S, who brings extensive experience in child, family, and trauma-focused work. If you’ve thought about taking trainings on Child-Centered Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Sand Tray, or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy, but aren’t sure where to
start, this training will introduce skills and techniques from all of the above, giving you direction on where you’d like to pursue further education.
Topics include:
Week 1 (July 23rd) : Playful Therapy: Utilizing Play & Creative Expression for All Ages
Week 2 (August 6th) : Parts of a Whole: Utilizing a Systems Based Approach when Working with Kids
Week 3 (August 20th) : Trauma in Childhood: Addressing Trauma Creatively and Integrating supports
Week 4 (September 3rd): Playful Therapy Part II
Cost:
Per session: $10
Full series: $35
Due to the nature of summer schedules, sessions will be offered in-person and via Zoom and recorded. Please note, due to the experiential nature of this training, it is highly suggested you attend in-person. Suggested supply list will be sent out to all Zoom participants beforehand and only basic supplies will be needed to ensure you can still participate!
This training is suggested for mental health clinicians at any licensure level. Participants can choose to purchase tickets to attend one session or all four for a discounted rate. You may also specify delivery method (Zoom or in-person) upon ticket purchase. Continuing education certificates will be provided for eligible licensed professionals. If you are interested in accessing the recorded trainings, please contact us directly for additional information on registration and access.
