Join us at Gallery221@HCC Dale Mabry Campus for a hands-on workshop in relation to our current exhibition, Theo Wujcik: Tempo, Tampa. In this workshop, you will learn how to create collages inspired by the renowned artist Theo Wujcik under the guidance of Jay Giroux. Don't miss this opportunity to explore your artistic side and make some unique pieces to take home!

General supplies will be provided. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own collage materials (pictures, magazines, etc.) to make their artworks even more personal and meaningful, as desired.

Jay Giroux is an artist, designer, and educator based in Tampa, FL who currently serves as as Visiting Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the USF St. Petersburg campus.

Location: Gallery221@HCC is located on the 2nd floor of the Library / Learning Resources Center building (DLRC).

Parking is free on campus in any open lot. Visitors are recommended to park near the Social Sciences building (near the main entrance off Tampa Bay Blvd.). Once parked, walk north into the campus interior. Use the external staircase near the Bookstore or take the interior stairway / elevator in the Learning Resources Center to enter the 2nd floor of the library building. The gallery will be to the right.

AboutTheo Wujcik: Tempo, Tampa

During his four decades in Tampa, celebrated artist Theo Wujcik left a lasting mark on the city—and Tampa left its mark on him. Theo Wujcik: Tempo, Tampa explores this exchange through works on loan from local collections, paired with archival materials that offer insight into his life and legacy. Together, they immerse viewers in the world of one of Tampa’s most significant artists, whose unique fusion of visual structure, content, metaphor and everyday materials reflects a deep awareness of our ever-evolving world—and reveals that creative sparks can be found all around us.

Theo Wujcik was a Detroit-born artist, educator, master printer and painter known for his innovative techniques. He moved to Tampa in 1970 to become shop director of Graphicstudio at USF, where he taught for three decades while creating artwork in rhythm with Tampa’s early underground music scene and Ybor City’s alternative dance clubs. Collected and exhibited both nationally and internationally, he remained a vital force in the Tampa Bay art scene until his death in 2014.
