Planet Ant Theatre presents The Big Bing Theory, another laugh out loud lovechild from Shawn Handlon (The Second City-Detroit alum and 20-year veteran of the Planet Ant Home Team) and Andi Maziarz (Go Comedy longform resident cast member and co-founder of the Detroit Women in Comedy Festival). The 80 minute sketch revue follows up their 2023 hit, The Very Not Bad Sketch Comedy Show.
The Big Bing Theory holds up a comedic lens to all the usual suspects--from interpersonal relationships to interplanetary diplomacy. Featuring an impeccably curated, first-rate cast, blending seasoned performers with promising young upstarts, The Big Bing Theory aims its crosshairs at hook ups, break ups, screw ups, invention, reinvention and redemption. The result is a whirlwind ride of grins, giggles and guffaws.
"In the tradition of past Planet Ant original comedies, it’s a hybrid of a sketch show and a play," says Handlon. "Each scene can be enjoyed individually, but they all exist in the same universe, so there are overlapping characters and storylines, and altogether, it tells a much larger story."
