We can't believe it neither. 'Exile' is turning fifty.‘Exile on Main St’, released on May 12, 1972, and arguably the Rolling Stones' greatest album, is a sprawling eighteen track love letter to American music, and could be considered a ground zero record for the Americana movement.
It's the go-to desert island record of the hard core Stones fan, and The YA-YA'S will be performing the album in its entirety as a ten piece band, followed by an encore set stuffed with other Stones classics.
Steeped in blues, gospel, country, soul and of course, rock n roll, ‘Exile’ was largely recorded in legendary sessions at the beginning of the Stones’ tax-exile period in a dank basement at Keith Richards’ rented villa, Nellcote, in Villefranche-sur-la-Mer on the French Riviera during the summer of 1971.
The album spawned the monster hit single 'Tumbling Dice', along with other rock radio staples 'Rocks Off', 'Rip This Joint', 'Happy', 'All Down the Line' and 'Shine a Light'.
Joining The YA-YA’s for this show will be special guests Tom Pechloff on piano and organ, backing vocalists Lee Ann McLellan and Sue Turpin, saxophonist Zeek Gross and trumpeter Chris Gerdei.
