In 2022, a memoir about her late brother who had nonverbal autism, My Brother Speaks in Dreams: Of Family, Beauty & Belonging, was published by Wising Up Press. A native of Detroit, she lived in the Boston area for twenty-two years, working primarily with refugees and immigrants. Now in Kansas City for another twenty-three years, she assisted new immigrants and refugees to become skilled interpreters.
