There are times when the kingdom falls ill. On the surface everything seems to continue as before...
The rivers still flow.
The forests still stand.
Yet something essential has withdrawn from the world.
"The land has become barren” as it goes.
Meaning has become thin.
Soul has been lost...
In myths, such times are marked by the appearance of “the wounded king”. His wound is not his alone. It belongs to the land. To the people, and to the unseen bond between soul and world. The king suffers, and the kingdom suffers with him.
In Jungian psychology, the wounded king is not merely a figure from legend. He lives within us and among us. He appears wherever there is disconnection from meaning, from nature, from soul, from one another. He is the part of us that remembers that something essential has been lost — and that something essential longs to return through the longing of the wound.

On September 12th, you are invited on a jungian pilgrimage through the forests and mythic landscapes of North Zealand to explore this archetypal theme; personally as well as collectively.
We begin in the shadow of Kronborg. Hamlet's Castle. A place haunted by questions. Where “time is out of joint”, grief lingers and certainty dissolves.
From there we enter the forest, and walk toward Gurre and the legendary castle ruins of King Valdemar Atterdag — the king who lost what he loved and wandered restlessly between worlds. A figure who embodies the ancient motif of the wounded king and whose story echoes the search for wholeness in a fragmented kingdom.
Along the way we engage in practices inspired by Jungian depth psychology, systemic nature coaching, ritual, and contemplative walking. Not to perform, master, figure out, fix or even to “heal” anything. But as invitations to slow down, explore, and be attentive and creative together.
- What speaks when we finally slow down enough to hear it?
- What within us is still waiting in exile?
- What has become estranged from soul, community, or the living - world?
- What calls for renewal through us?
- And what happens to our sense of purpose and direction when we stop trying to find it — and instead begin to listen our way into the landscape, allowing something deeper to answer back?
That’s the invitation of this pilgrimage walk: A shared exploration of myth, psyche, landscape, calling and the possibility that the world is still speaking — if we practice how to listen with our hearts.
"The wasteland and the Grail Castle are not only places in stories. They are conditions of the soul."

About the Facilitator:
My name is Nikolaj Knub. I’m a philosopher (MA), systemic nature coach, and Jungian psychotherapist (MPF) in training to become an analyst. Throughout the last 10 years I’ve facilitated cacao ceremonies, jungian study groups and experiential courses exploring, in particular, Liber Novus (The Red Book) and, more broadly, “Jung’s myth for our time.” Currently, my work and interests lie at the intersections of alchemy, active imagination, plant medicines, and ecopsychology — a blend I explore through offering courses, cacao ceremonies, 1:1 therapy, and nature coaching.
