The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase presents its annual Kick Off Concert, showcasing the artistry and variety amongst string players in a round-robin format. Special Guests include, Shine Delphi, Dustin Furlow, Mark Lemaire, Matt Thomas, and Adam Traum. Thursday, October 20, 2022, 7PM Doors, 8PM Show at The Colony Woodstock, 22 Rock City Rd., Woodstock, NY 12498. General Admission: Tickets $22 Advanced, $30 Day of Show.
The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase is an international acoustic guitar and stringed-instrument makers’ festival. This year’s Eleventh Edition of the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase will take place October 21, 22 & 23, 2022, at the newly renovated Bearsville Center in Woodstock, NY. The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase Kick Off Concert, is an annual opening showcase event that takes place at Colony Woodstock, which signifies the beginning of the festival by gathering both luthiers and patrons alike to enjoy the sounds of renowned string players from around the country and world.
SHINE DELPHI
Shine Delphi travels this world with a resonator guitar and a few words to share. Born in Pennsylvania, raised in California, and rebirthed in the crescent city of New Orleans. Shine is a performer that will leave you feeling good and wanting more. From his technical ability on the guitar to his simple yet touching lyrics, he is an act that spans many genres and all ages. He has opened for such bands as The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Reverend Peyton's big damn band, and The Tony Rice unit just to name a few.
DUSTIN FURLOW
Dustin Furlow is an award-winning singer/songwriter/guitarist whose playing and songwriting reflect a clear influence of today's contemporary-folk artists. With comparisons to songwriters such as Ray LaMontagne and virtuoso guitar-players like Tommy Emmanuel, Furlow eventually carved out a sound that became easily distinguishable by it's marriage of complex guitar work and warm, home-spun lyrics. From the haunting melodies in "Evergreen" to the foot-tapping groove of "Cherokee Lake'' Dustin is an ambassador of dynamic control on stage. In 2019 he played over 200 shows, many with Harp-guitarist and International Fingerstyle-Guitar Champion Matt Thomas.
MARK LEMAIRE
Mark Lemaire is known for his unique guitar style: he incorporates masterful fingerpicking, slap-and-tap harmonics, hand percussion, and a delicate touch that goes straight to your heart. While Mark's solo guitar pieces stand as complete statements, his harmonies with Cindy Lemaire are so perfectly matched that they seem like two people with one voice.
At a show, audiences do a lot of laughing, but many are also moved to tears. The material runs from tongue-in-cheek songs about married life to stories of the strange surprise of middle age creeping up on us. The music ranges from subtle, pin-drop delicate solo guitar to raucous sing-alongs. While the music is beautiful, the experience of simply being together is a key part of the evening. Folks leave at the end both grinning and fulfilled.
MATT THOMAS
Matt Thomas A master of the acoustic guitar, Matt Thomas brings technical wizardry as well as a vibrant and poetic music making experience. This has made him one of the most distinctive fingerstyle guitarists performing in the acoustic guitar arena today. He takes his audience on a vivid scientific themed journey throughout his shows, peppered with exciting stories and odd finds that inspire his music. A true character of all sorts!
An acoustic guitarist of astounding strength, ability and control, his sensitivity is as striking as his technical expertise. Intricate fingerstyle technique, with an uncanny gift for melodic invention, Matt Thomas delivers a flawless performance every time.
ADAM TRAUM
Adam Traum was raised in Woodstock, N.Y., in a musical family, which shaped his musical world view. His father Happy Traum, a veteran of the Greenwich Village folk scene turned Adam on to blues, bluegrass and folk styles while his irreverent teenaged spirit revealed in blues-driven rock. In his early twenties Adam got bit by the Americana bug and he became consumed by that music. He both performs and teaches throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
He also has instructional DVD guitar, mandolin and ukulele lessons on Homespun Music Instruction. Traum's release "Just Like Home" (2012), is an all acoustic collection of songs that have an intimate feel and pays tribute to his musical heritage. He released the "One-takes" (2016) with the Mosey Boys with David Thom and Jack Hines. He is currently in pre-production for a new CD of acoustic music and also recording with his trio Wolf Run. His latest effort, "Legacy" celebrates Adam's musical heritage and represents his most personal collection of songs since he began recording.
