Celebrated historian and author Dr. Katherine Landdeck will deliver a Memorial Day presentation about the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) of World War II, based upon her new book, The Women with Silver Wings.
Katherine will give special recognition to the women who were killed in the line of duty while serving in the WASP ranks. Katherine Landdeck has received numerous awards for her work on the WASP and has appeared as an expert on NPR’s Morning Edition, PBS, and the History channel. Her work has been published in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Time Magazine, as well as in numerous academic and aviation publications.

This presentation includes audience Q&A with a book signing after the program.

Author Bio
Author of The Women With Silver Wings, Katherine Sharp Landdeck is Professor of History at Texas Woman’s University, home of the WASP archives. A Guggenheim Fellow at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and a Normandy Scholar, Landdeck has studied the WASP for over three decades. She has produced Emmy Award-winning documentaries and appeared on NPR’s “Morning Edition,” PBS, the History Channel’s “History’s Greatest Mysteries,” and the Discovery Channel’s "Mysteries of the Abandoned." She’s published in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Time, Flight Training and Woman Pilot. She serves as committee or board member for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Medal of Honor Museum, and the International Forest of Friendship. She is a Ninety-Nine and a member of Women in Aviation. She is a private pilot who flies whenever she can.
